Final: Should Art be Censored
Censorship is a challenging topic in many areas. Art is a major area where censorship can be very challenging issue. I believe that censorship needs to be discussed in every area, but I also feel that it should not be able to control every piece of art that is viewed. I think that if someone doesn't want to look at a piece of controversial art, then don't look at it. If someone wants to express him or herself through art, they should be allowed to do so, even if it might offend someone else. Everyone has the choice whether to take part in things or to even look at things, so for me censorship should still be around for extreme measures in things like television and movies, but art should be able to be expressed as someone may want.
Final: Evidence of Female Archetypal Patterns
Women can be very confusing and irrational in nature, but that's who we are. These female archetypal types that were discussed show the patterns of how women tend to be characterized. I believe that these archetypal types can be found everywhere. For one, they are very evident in literature. Any book that contains a drama over a man or woman usually holds a few characters that fit the female archetypal types. Female archetypal patterns can also be found in movies and the theater. Movies really show how women can be characterized by these patterns. I think that television also hold these female archetypal types, as well. The most evident area where female archetypal patterns can be found is in our everyday society. Practically every woman fits into one or more of these categories almost everyday of their lives.
Final: Controversial Art
Art is art no matter how or who looks at it. For some, art can be looking at a beautiful spring morning, while others think of art as being a little more darker and more personal. Controversial art is a sub-section of art, and at times it is look at as the black sheep of the family. Although controversial art can be very debatable at times, I strongly believe that it is one's choice whether to create a piece of controversial art or even look at a controversial art piece. So I feel that the purpose of this type of art is freedom of expression. If someone wants to create something that expresses who he or she is and tells how he or she feels, it is their right to do so.
Final: Most Important Function of Art
Art has many functions, but one sticks out in my mind. I believe that art most necessary function is serving as a form of expression. In our society today, there are few ways where one can express his or her feelings without having it altered by the media or advertisements. I think that art is a wonderful way for someone to really express themselves emotionally and intellectually. Art is very important in many ways, but without the art of expression, what would art really mean, but just some picture that no one cared about.
Final: Critiquing, Reviewing, Analyzing Art
I think that by critiquing and reviewing art, one can gain a tremendous amount of insight. For the art reviews that I have done for this class, I have really been able to to look deeper into the meaning of the specific piece. I find that with art sometimes I just glance over it, but by analyzing it, I have really enjoyed fully understanding art. I think that by critiquing art it helps one understand it and develop his or her own opinions on the work. Critiquing art also can help you organize your thoughts and feelings about a piece of art.

Female Archetypes : Week 15
For the archetype of Earth, I chose to use Susan Sarandon's character in "Stepmom." She plays a mother of two who is battling cancer. All the while her ex-husband is in a new relationship with another, younger woman. this woman is trying to connect with the kids, and Susan's character takes it as stepping on her toes. Susan's character is very wise and acts like the foundation for everyone in the movie, even though she has her own very serious personal challenge. She makes sure everything is functionally correctly.
For the archetype of Water, I chose Julia Robert's character from "My Best Friend's Wedding." She plays a head strong best friend who is secretly in love with her best friend, which is a man. The problem is that he is engaged to be married to another woman. Julia spends most of the movie trying to spilt them apart, but in the end she sheds some tears and lets him go to be happy.
For the archetype of Wind, I chose Sally Field's character form the movie "Steel Magnolias." She plays the overbearing mother who gets in everyone's business. Although almost everyone in the family hates the fact that she is the way she is, they all know that without her love and devotion for them, they wouldn't be the happy, successful, and strong family that they are.
For the archetype of Fire, I chose Meryl Streep's character in the movie, "Death Becomes Her." She plays a woman who is so caught up in her appearance that she ends up taking things to extreme levels. She tries to get back at her long time rival, but because they have both drank an immorality treatment, never one can die. They go on hurting and trying to kill each other until they realize that things will never be the same.

Music Review
For me, music is my favorite source of entertainment. I could sit and listen to music all day long is I was able to. I think that is why I like to travel so much, because the radio is always there. For this art review, I was required to choose a piece of music to discuss. I enjoy listening to all genres of music, but my absolute preference would have to be country. I like listening to the happy and the sad aspects of country music. Sometimes I can be listening to a song and just break out in tears or that song will take to back to a specific memory.
I decided on a love song for this review. Just like many other women, I am a sucker for a good love song. The song I chose is by Travis Tritt and it is titled, "Drift Off to Dream." This song means a lot to me personally, and I believe that is why I decided on using this song. Travis Tritt is considered an older performer, mainly because he hasn't released much in the last few years, but I love his classic stuff, especially his slow, sad ones.
This particular song is about a man who is searching for that special one. It starts out with him sitting by himself at a bar wondering if and when he might find his soul mate. I can tell that he is really wanting to find her, although he might appear to just be hanging out with buddies having a good time until she just shows up. The chorus is my favorite part of this song, because I can picture the perfect couple going through the motions and falling in love forever. The chorus talks about and evening when they are together just laying beneath the stars. The last line of the chorus is"Til you drift off to dream in my arms." This line is awesome, because who doesn't want to drift off to dream in the arms of the person who loves you. I know I love it.
The next verse goes back to him talking about how long it might take for him to find her and what will happen when they meet. He says that no matter when or where that she will hear this love song, which is what he refers to as the chorus. Chorus comes again and the last line of the entire song is "Til you drift off to dream in my arms."
I love this song, because although you know that he isn't in love at the time, he truly wants to be and has this perfect image of what their love will be. I know love isn't always perfect, but I can't help but want to go through an evening like the chorus of this song every night with the person I love.
